A first ascent, or three

There is no greater satisfaction as an ML than getting a client to the top of their first summit.

The only thing that makes it better is when you have a personal attachment to the summiteer. Over the years I have spent time in the mountains with many friends. its still a great feeling to see them recognise their own achievement.

For Paige we completed a fantastic first trip to the mountains with three summits in one day. The classic Brecon Horseshoe, a circular hike taking in the summits of Corn Ddu, Pen y Fan and Cribyn.

The weather played ball and after the initial pull up onto the ridge we were soon witnessing Ravens and Red kites flying over us on the ridge. We completed the sharp pull up to Corn Ddu and stopped for photos before continuing on to Pen y Fan where we took our summit photo.

After a little break to watch the world go by we set off for Cribyn and began the descent, knowing this would equal more ascent shortly. The many false summits of the Cribyn path played their usual games before we finally topped out.

We then began the descent back to the start with the rain arriving just as we dropped our packs.

I hope this is the first of many adventures for Paige, i was personally incredibly proud of her and it was a great privilege to share those summit moments.
